What's been happening in Year One?
Thank-you to everyone who attended Pastoral Interviews. It was lovely to meet you and learn more about your children. Should you wish to discuss any matter further please contact me by email to arrange a time.
The children have enjoyed sharing photos, drawings and videos of their balanced meal this week. Thank-you for helping them with this task. We had some varied, interesting and super healthy meals presented to us.
The students have been busy writing lots of letters. We have each written a thank-you letter to Shayne for building the Big Red Bus, a get well letter to Mr Bolger with suggestions on things he could do to make him feel better and one to a friend promoting next weekend's Carnival. In each case the children needed to write a draft and then publish a good copy.
The class have learnt a new Maths game called "Race To Ten". It is a fun game that develops their basic addition skills and provides an excellent opportunity to re-inforce the two strategies of counting on and counting on from the largest number. Why don't you challenge them to a game?
As part of the children's summative assessment for our current Unit of Inquiry - I'm In Charge, the students are going to construct an unsafe scenario. This will be completed during class time over the next two weeks and they will each require a shoebox. If you could please send a shoebox (with lid) in with your child early next week that would be terrific.
I have added to the Useful Links the Triple Zero Kids Challenge page. This is an informative and interactive site that the children loved using.
Finally, I have sent you all an invitation to view an album on Picasa Web. Please let me know if you have any difficulty accessing it.
