Reading
Common sight word knowledge. Predicting, making connections and re-telling. Recognising and using common blends and chunks. Recognising little words in big words. Reading fluently and with expression. Acting on and understanding punctuation. Using a range of reading strategies independently to self monitor. Identifying key elements of non-fiction literature. Using comprehension strategies to build literal and inferred meaning. Recalling key ideas. Applying our reading knowledge to a range of different reading materials.

Writing
Handwriting - Revision of all upper and lower case letters, spacing and formation of letters, correct pencil grip and body positioning, ensuring that all writing is neat and legible.
Genres - Recount, letter, report, lists.
Strategies - Basic sentence structure - where to place punctuation. Using adjectives to describe nouns and providing details about ideas or events. Using a range of verbs to ensure that writing is interesting. Have I clearly expressed what I wanted to say?
Editing - Re-reading, self correcting spelling, grammar and punctuation, adding or deleting words to improve meaning.

Spelling
Common sight words, initial blends, word building, accurately spelling words with regular spelling patterns, independently using our personal dictionary and classroom resources, personal spelling list.

Mathematics
Counting, place value, reading, writing and interpreting numerals, addition, subtraction, grouping, sharing, fractions, measurement - length, area & perimeter, mass & capacity, chance and data.

Unit Of Inquiry
Title - Lots of people, Lots of needs
Theme - How we organise ourselves
Central idea - A range of needs and resources are found within all communities
Lines of Inquiry
* Different types of communities
* What resources a community needs
* Influences affecting communities

ICT
Revising how to create a Pages document. Focusing on layout, font and importing images. Creating an iMovie - sequencing correctly and recording a clear and expressive voiceover.
