Year 1 Loves Bugs!

There has been HUGE enthusiasm for our new Unit of Inquiry - Little Creatures, Big Wonders. The year 1s and 2s went on a bug hunt on Friday afternoon and captured, recorded and then released a variety of creatures. Hopefully they have had a very busy time in their own gardens this weekend collecting, identifying and observing a range of invertebrates.

Show and Share for Weeks 8 and 9 will focus on invertebrates that the students have captured or observed. They have a great app on their iPads - Melbourne Museum Field Guide, which should help them to identify most locally found invertebrates. The app does have quite a lot of writing in it, so they may need your assistance to help navigate the pages.

The students finished presenting their Light posters last week. It was the first time that they had made an information poster and they all did a super job. Most of the posters are on display outside the classroom, so if you have a moment please take the time to admire their work.

The Nude Food Challenge is taking place in our classroom this week as part of EnviroWeek. Our aim is to have zero wrappers in our lunch boxes. Table prizes will be awarded to the table with the least amount of wrappers and if the whole class meets the challenge for the entire week we will have a class reward of a picnic on the island.

Just a friendly reminder that if you are planning on taking holidays outside of the school holiday period, then you are required to notify the Principal in writing.
