What a brilliant first term! Thank-you for all of your support and enthusiasm. Your children have worked very hard and have achieved some great results.
The children are each bringing home 6 books to read over the holiday period. It is important that they continue to read every day. As I explained to the class this morning, it doesn't matter if they have read the book before because they can always improve their fluency and expression on subsequent readings. As they move through the levels, it is very important that the children can also comprehend what they have read. To check their comprehension, you can stop them after a few pages or paragraphs to tell you in their own words what they have read so far. This is usually a good gauge as to whether or not they have actually understood what they have read.
Finally, have a safe and happy Easter and I look forward to seeing you all next term!
